This collection of 12 paintings entitled “Views of Paris” captures well some of the various points of interest through the eyes of the artist.
Paris has always been known as the artistic capital of the world. During the turn of the 20th century many artists travelled there to not only learn from some of the most influential painters of the later part of the 19th century but also to draw inspiration from the beautiful architecture the city provided. With its rich culture in art, Paris became synonymous with major art exhibits that brought the world’s fair among others.
In the collection there are examples of several distinct art movements; Impressionism, Post-Impressionism and modern. One can see the transitions and influence the Barbizon School had with the Impressionists and like wise Impressionism with paving the way for the Post-Impressionists.
The exhibit was curated by Casey & Associates and can be contacted at www.caseyandassociatessf.com, 415-834-2394.
